Making your own DIY Pumpkin Floral Arrangement couldn’t be easier. A faux pumpkin and some real or artificial flowers are all you need to craft a stunning fall centerpiece.
Well, this post was supposed to be part of this month’s Pinterest Challenge. But, we were on vacation last week when the challenge was due to go live. So, planner that I am, I scheduled the post to go live on the correct date and lugged my laptop clear across the country so I could add the code for all of the other posts at the bottom. Sadly, my computer died by the time I arrived and I didn’t bring the charger. Womp, womp.
Anyway, this is still a fun and easy project, and you can visit Cindy from County Road 407 to see the rest of this month’s pumpkin crafts so you can make something special for your fall decor.

How to Craft Your Own Pumpkin Flower Arrangement
Supplies needed to create a pumpkin centerpiece:
- a carvable pumpkin (a real pumpkin or a faux one that is either hollow or styrofoam)
- small vase or waterproof container
- faux flowers or fresh flowers (or a combination of both!)
- sharp knife

First, carefully cut the top off the pumpkin. (You can discard the pumpkin top. You won’t need it for this craft).

If your pumpkin is hollow, then move on to the next step. If you’re using a fresh pumpkin or a styrofoam pumpkin you will need to carve out the middle.
My pumpkin from Hobby Lobby was styrofoam inside, so I used a sharp knife to carefully chip away just enough space to hold a plastic cup inside.

If you are using real flowers, fill the cup about halfway with water and gently situate it inside of the pumpkin. If you are also using a real pumpkin for your project, a flower frog or block of floral foam tucked in the base of the arrangement is a great way to hold your flowers in place.

Optional: Select a platter or tray to hold your floral centerpiece. I used this oversized carved wood tray from Hearth & Hand with a pretty wreath of fall leaves to lay under the pumpkin.

Next, select your flowers. My Little Lime Hydrangeas were at the perfect stage for cutting when I created my pumpkin arrangement, so I clipped a few directly from the bush. I arranged the flower stems in the cup of water until they had a nice shape.

To add some different colors to my arrangement, I also used some faux fall leaves from the floral department at Hobby Lobby. Using a variety of flowers and floral stems is a beautiful way to add more dimension and texture to the top of your pumpkin.

TIP: Using a faux pumpkin will extend the life of this centerpiece, allowing you to have gorgeous pumpkin flower arrangements all season long. You can mix and match different kinds of flowers as often as you like to create beautiful designs for the entire fall season.
