Sundays on Silverado #212

Peller Winery

Life Lately

The mister and I spent last week in Niagra Falls. It’s a place I’ve always wanted to see, so we decided to check it off the list. ✓

We did some of the typical touristy things, of course.

But after that, we found that we really preferred to be away from the hustle and bustle, so we spent most of our time in Niagra on the Lake, about 30 minutes from the falls.

Niagra Falls bikes

We rented bikes and spent an entire day riding the “wine route”, with multiple stops for pretty overlooks and of course, several wineries.

The next day, we walked along the white water rapids and explored the beautiful and historic downtown area.

Mark’s Uncle Jerry and his wife Mary only live about 3 hours away from Niagra Falls, so they drove out to meet us for the last couple of days.

We had a beautiful dinner with them at the top of the Skylon Tower in the rotating restaurant.

The next day we ventured out to experience the Aero Car over the rapids. Gorgeous views!

While up there, we saw this Whirlpool Jet boat go by. Mark and I decided we needed a little adventure, so we gave it a try! No pics unfortunately because we didn’t take our phones on the boat. Suffice it to say, that was a good choice because we got WET.

It was fun to ride in that boat over class 5 rapids. Definitely the adventure we were looking for to round out our trip.

Beautiful views from our room at the Marriott Fallsview Hotel.

In other news, big boy Hayden turned 8 months old this week. So handsome, with the most precious big smile. He’s army crawling all over, and getting so close to walking.

My favorite tiny girl is starting 2-year-old preschool this week and had open house a few days ago. I’m so proud of her and excited for her to learn and make friends, but ugh… How is she growing up so fast?! She looks like such a big girl in these pics.

And also, these pictures remind me yet again of what a miracle she is. When she was born, the doctors literally said, “She will never go to school or have any quality of life”. Not a day goes by that I don’t say a little prayer of thanks for how she has blessed our lives.

Happy first week of school, sweet Evie! You are so loved.

In Case You Missed It…

I totally blew it on this month’s Pinterest Challenge. I had my project done, and my post written and ready to publish. I toted my laptop all the way to Niagra Falls, so I could use it to add the code for the other projects since we’d be on vacation when it was sent out.

And then, my laptop died and I forgot the charger. Womp, Womp. So, I missed being included in the challenge this month. But, I did go ahead and post my Pumpkin Floral Centerpiece. It’s adding pretty fall vibes to my kitchen right now, and it was so easy.

It’s APPLE Season!

I’m suddenly in the mood for apple everything. I stopped at our local orchard yesterday morning, specifically to pick up their new Apple Cider Donut Hard Cider. Oh my gosh, it reminded me so much of the Baked Apple Cider Donuts that I made last fall.

I was craving something “applicious” and if by magic my sweet neighbor delivered these apples from her parents’ trees to my doorstep!

Right now I’m enjoying how beautiful they look in my mom’s vintage bushel basket while I’m planning what to make with them. Probably some chunky applesauce for my favorite tiny humans, but also maybe Farmhouse Apple Fritter Bread that my husband likes, or/and (probably and) Caramel Apple Bars that are my favorite.

Thanks, neighbor!

The Weekly Features!

I love all of the fall inspiration shared this week! When do you guys put up your fall decor? I’ve got a bit started, but only because of this month’s Pinterest Challenge.

  1. Thanks for another fun party. As I’m looking at Evie’s pictures, I’m thinking the same thing. She’s truly a miracle and a testament to her parents. Little bro is adorable too. I was just telling someone Niagra Falls is on my bucket list. I can’t believe growing up back East, I never made it there. Your pictures are fabulous and looks like fun. XO- MaryJo

    1. Yes, Evie is truly amazing. She attends plenty of therapies each week, but how far she has come is truly miraculous. And yes, her parents are incredible. :-)
I hope you make it to Niagra Falls sometime, MaryJo. Glad I could see it with my own eyes. :-)

  2. Of all the sites I follow, yours is my favorite. Simply love seeing your babies growing us. So blessed. Have a wonderful day. God Bless you and all your faimily.
