Life Lately

Baking with Evie

If you follow me on Instagram, you may have already seen the fun I had baking a Rhubarb Pie with my favorite baby this week!

We used an old family recipe that my mom always made because it was my dad’s favorite pie.

My mom has written on the top of the recipe card that the recipe was passed down from HER grandmother.

It wasn’t until after Evelynn and I had finished the pie that I realized that Evelynn Irene was at least the SIXTH generation of bakers in my family to have now made this pie. #allthefeels

A Wedding

My best friend’s daughter got married.

In Oklahoma.

Even though I still wasn’t in the best of shape after my surgery, there was no way I was missing this event.

Chris has been my best friend for 35 years. We met on the first day of freshman orientation in college. I was in her wedding, and she was in mine. She is my daughter’s godmother. Surgery or not, I. was. going.

So my sweet husband drove me 7 hours to the wedding, and back, while I rode in the passenger seat with a heating pad and muscle relaxers.

Now that’s love. 😂

We had such a good time. Not only was it a wedding, but almost like a college reunion as well.

I got to catch up with members of our college circle that I hadn’t seen, other than on Facebook, in years. It was such a good night. Did I already say that?

Okay, but it was.

In Case You Missed It…

Since the rhubarb patch is full and fancy right now, I made my husband a batch of Strawberry Rhubarb Bars. They are easy and delicious.

The Weekly Features!

Speaking of strawberries, this week’s features are all about the strawberries!

In Iowa, most of the strawberry patches are ripe and ready for pickin’, and they must be where a lot of y’all live too, because there were so many great strawberry recipes shared this week!

Here are just a few….
