Sundays on Silverado #87

Life Lately

Here’s a quick little collage for you of the latest Evelynn pictures.

I always get teary-eyed going through the pics of her, because I’m so amazed at what a miracle she is, and how proud I am of my daughter and son-in-law.

Prayers, and the love and commitment of her amazing parents to her never-ending care are the reasons that Baby Evie has made so much progress.

April is HIE Awareness month.

One thing doctors said in November, when Evelynn was only a few days old, is that because of her oxygen deprivation in the womb, her HIE (Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy) was so severe she likely “would never eat or breath on her own, wouldn’t walk, wouldn’t talk, and wouldn’t even interact with people”.

I think the part about her not even interacting with people was the hardest for me. Would she even be able to know how much she was loved?

Well, I’m here to tell that at 4 months old, this precious girl is totally without oxygen support, is drinking breast milk from a bottle, and is definitely interacting with people.

She smiles, she coos, she cuddles…. and she definitely knows how much she is loved.

You guys, you’re looking at a miracle.

Or course, she still has many hurdles ahead. She currently works with physical therapists and speech therapists and has appointments and tests several times a week.

And because of her amazing parents and their commitment to all the things she needs, she’s making progress that we weren’t sure she would.

If you want to know more about baby Evelynn’s story, my daughter has recently created an Instagram account to chronicle their journey.

I invite you follow @everydaywithevelynn. Tell them Gigi sent you. ๐Ÿ’•
