Sundays on Silverado #85

Life Lately

Well, I thought I was going to be here sharing some pictures of sun and sand with you today.

If you remember from my Prime Purchases post earlier this month, we were preparing for a long-awaited and much-needed beach vacation.

But, it didn’t happen.

Our bags were packed and sitting by the door, all ready for our 6 am flight. When the alarm went off at 2:30 am for us to get ready to head to the airport, there was a message from the airline saying that our flight had been canceled. 😩

Apparently, most of the United States wanted to go to Florida for Spring Break, because after 5 hours on the phone with Delta, they could find nothing else that would get us to our destination. “All routes are full” we kept hearing.

We tried hard to take our minds off being stuck in Iowa by enjoying some baby time, working on some projects, doing a little antique shopping, and sipping a few cocktails too….

C’est la vie I suppose.

Since we were unexpectedly still in town for St. Patrick’s Day, my mother-in-law made dinner for us and a couple of the kids who also had no spring break plans.

Dinner was delicious, the table was festive and it was fun to relax and spend time with family.

In Case You Missed It…

Speaking of St. Patrick’s Day, here is the St. Patrick’s Day Table I shared this week. It was simple, and pretty. Be sure to pin it for next year’s inspiration.

Now that St. Pat’s Day is over, it’s time to start thinking about Easter. These Mini Egg Cupcakes are an easy way to make beautiful cupcakes without a lot of effort because they begin with a boxed cake mix!

This way, you can spend your energy on creating Easter dinner, and still have a pretty and delicious dessert that doesn’t take hours to prepare.

The Weekly Features!

I just love this time of year, when the days are longer again, we start to get the gift of a few warm days sprinkled in here and there, and the tulips and other spring flowers start to emerge, don’t you?

You all shared so many bright and colorful spring and Easter posts this week, and I enjoyed browsing through them all because my spirits needed some lifting.

Be sure to check out all of these incredible spring features:

  1. What a disappointment that must have been! Everyone wants to go somewhere – Florida – especially now that travel has opened up! I hope you get to have the trip anyway sometime in the future 😊 Thanks for hosting the party!

  2. Oh, so sorry your flight was canceled and you could not get away. But it looks like you had lots of snuggle time with that adorable baby, so all is good. We were supposed to be on a river cruise in Germany with an extension to Poland right now. We canceled – don’t want to add to the stress of the nation helping the refugees, and could not enjoy ourselves in that part of the world when so many people are suffering. Love your posts – have a great Spring!

  3. What a letdown! Sorry to hear about your canceled trip but it sounds like you made the best of being stuck at home. I hope you have a terrific first week of spring! We got another dump of snow 🙁

  4. Oh Niky, what a bummer that your flight was canceled. But look at all the extra baby snuggles you got! I am very fearful of flying anywhere these days for exactly this reason…so much gets canceled and I would be so stressed getting stuck somewhere that wasn’t home! I guess it’s also better it was your flight out that was canceled rather than your flight home! (I am always looking for silver linings!)

  5. I’m so sorry Niky! Almost the same thing happened to us last month… work related not flights but so disappointing! We were headed for sun and sand too. It does look like you made the best of it though. Thank you for hosting each week and I’m thrilled to see my lanterns included in your features! Have a wonderful week ahead and I hope you get a redo on your trip very soon!

  6. I’m sorry your trip was canceled! What a bummer. Hopefully you can get there soon. Thank you so much for including my peony post on your features!! I really appreciate linking up each week 💗

  7. Oh Niky, I’m so sorry your flight was canceled. I can’t imagine how disappointing that would be. Hopefully you guys can get there soon. Thanks so much for sharing my blooming bulb vignette. I’m loving all the spring inspiration out there. Thanks so much for hosting!
