Happy Halloween, friends!
Life Lately
Ahhhh, we’re spending this weekend just taking it easy after last weekend’s baby shower bash. It was wonderful, but boy was I exhausted after.
We had absolutely perfect fall weather the Saturday of the shower, and then the next day it rained so much that it broke a 100-year-old rainfall record here in Iowa.
I was relieved that we had such a lovely day for the baby shower, and I actually didn’t mind the rain the next day at all. It gave us the excuse to do a whole lot of this…

Food, fireplace, and football on the screened porch while it rained. Just what we needed.
We spend so much time out on this screen porch that we wanted to squeeze in even more usable time, so we recently hired an electrician to come and hook us up with a couple more outlets, so we could mount a TV out there.
Then we hired someone else to enclose and insulate the decking to make it a true 3-season porch.
With the fireplace and a small space heater, we can make it quite comfortable out there, and extend our outside time through the fall and even further into the winter.
Nature is the best form of stress relief for me, which is one of the reasons I hate winter so much. if I can’t be outside, this is the next best thing. At least I can enjoy some of nature’s offerings while staying toasty warm in the porch.

In Case You Missed It…
I managed to get two new posts up on the blog even though it was a crazy busy week with three late nights of parent/teacher conferences at school.
First, you can read about some of the details of the Woodland Themed Baby Shower HERE, and then also about my baby shower gift for my daughter/granddaughter HERE.
The Weekly Features!

Beggars night in Iowa is always the day before Halloween (weird, I know), and since that fell on a Saturday night this year, and my husband happened to not be working, we spent a fun night passing out candy on the front porch to the trick-or-treaters.
Halloween just isn’t quite as fun without littles around, so I am kinda excited to get to experience it again through the eyes of baby Poppy next year. 💕
In honor of Halloween, I’ve chosen these three adorable ideas for celebrating Halloween. So much cuteness!

Halloween Garden Party | Hyacinths for the Soul

Halloween Charcuterie Board | Family & the Lake House

Haunted Houses on a Halloween Tablescape | Whispers of the Heart
All features have been pinned to the Sundays on Silverado Pinterest Board!

Hi Niky, your baby shower theme is just adorable! It’s so great that you were able to make your porch a 3 season one. Having that wonderful space and view is so nice. Have a fun rest of the weekend. Funny about local customs, I’ve never heard of Beggar’s Night on the night before Halloween.
I’m right there with you about winter. Your 4-season porch sounds perfect – enjoy! Happy Halloween, Niky 🙂
Niky, your screened porch has me green with envy! Thanks so much for hosting. I brought my Swedish Meatball Meatloaf to the party.
Thanks so much Niky! Your screened porch looks like an awesome place to relax! Happy Halloween 🎃
Your porch sounds lovely and I couldn’t agree with you more about winter. I hate the cold and the dark, dreary days. It may be time for a warmer climate….
Niky – Thanks for hosting! Have a great Halloween!
Happy Halloween to you! I thought our trick or treat was last night until about an hour before when I realized I was looking at the schedule in a town with the same name but in a different state from me! Haha. The kiddos will be begging for candy tonight!
