Sundays on Silverado #64

Life Lately

Fall Harvest Season

It’s that time of year here in Iowa when the farmers are working hard to bring in the crops. As I was preparing to make dinner last night, this was my view out the kitchen window…

A wide-open pasture, some horses, and a tractor working the farm field beyond. It’s very “Iowa”, and I love it.

You know how some people have bucket lists that contain things like riding in a hot air balloon or sky-diving? Not me… riding in a big John Deere combine as it harvests a cornfield is on my bucket list. Is that weird? ๐Ÿ˜‚

Costco Advent Calendars

The Costco Wine Advent Calendars are in stores now! If you want one, I suggest making your way there soon, as they almost always sell out before the end of October.

We’ve been buying one (okay two) each year, to enjoy over the course of several months rather than using them “advent calendar style”. The half-size bottles pour just two glasses, so they are perfect for the mister and me to enjoy one glass each with dinner. Plus, we really enjoy the various wines from around the world that the box contains.

Baby Shower

We spent the week preparing to host my daughter’s baby shower. I can’t wait to share all the details with you in a full post soon. Is there anything cuter than baby animals? A baby granddaughter, maybe? ๐Ÿ’•

Happy Anniversary to Us

We celebrated our anniversary this week with our tradition of going to dinner at the restaurant where we had our first date. We’ve eaten inside a restaurant so rarely this past year and a half that this was an extra special treat.

Last year, because of Covid, we didn’t actually eat in the restaurant, but instead brought home takeout from the same restaurant and had a romantic dinner at home that I set up to be reminiscent of our wedding and reception. You can see that post HERE.

In Case You Missed It…

I shared this delicious Honey Bran Muffin recipe this week.

If you think you donโ€™t like bran muffins, this recipe just may change your mind.

These bran muffins are moist, just a tiny bit chewy, and have a delicious sticky topping. The wheat bran adds fiber, but also a little bit of a nutty flavor.

They make a great breakfast, or a snack with your coffee or tea.

The Weekly Features!

There were so many great projects shared this week that I had such a hard time choosing these features. You guys never fail to share so much creativity and inspiration!

I’m obsessed with Marie’s Ticking Fabric Pumpkins with Cabinet Knob Stems! I love ticking fabric, and then pair it with the cutest little porcelain, vintage-looking knobs and you end up with the most adorable DIY pumpkins.

I also love lantern decor and flameless candles. I wrote a whole post about my lanterns and cozy lighting tips last fall that you can see HERE. These fall lanterns from My Home of All Seasons are filled with several great ideas for how to style lanterns in a variety of ways.

Robin from Junk Journal, and Renae from Peacock Ridge Farm both shared tutorials about how to make DIY wall hook shelves. You might remember my laundry room refresh that I shared with you last month. There’s one more thing I want to add to it, and that is a wall hook shelf. I have a leftover piece of beadboard that I want to incorporate into my shelf, so these two tutorials gave me some great ideas. Thanks, ladies!
