Life Lately
Fall Projects
The hint of fall in the air is inspiring me to get moving on my front porch for fall. You can see last year’s Cozy Fall Front Porch HERE.
I’m planning to get some pumpkins purchased in the next few days, and once again, I plan to use this method to preserve them.
Last year they lasted from mid-September until after Thanksgiving when I threw them away to transition to my Christmas decor!
I bought my mums already, because I got them for a steal of a deal at Lowes. For this year’s front porch plan, I wanted multiple small pots, so once again, the magic of paint came to the rescue to transform some old, junky pots into exactly what I wanted them to be.
I hope to have my finished 2021 front porch ready to show you soon!
Fall Baking
I’ve been doing some fall baking, too. I made a delicious pumpkin pecan cake for the Labor Day BBQ on Monday that was a big hit with the family. I also made some healthy bran muffins that I’ve been having for breakfast all week.
Watch for the recipes on the blog very soon, but if you can’t wait that long and are craving some fall treats, here are a couple of my favorites from last season…
UPDATE: Click HERE for the Pumpkin Pecan Upside Down Cake with Bourbon Caramel Sauce! It’s soooo good!

In Case You Missed It…
I gave my laundry room a mini makeover, and shared a code from Church Street Designs, in case you’re looking for a simple and easy way to refresh your spaces with some of their lovely bottles, containers and labels. You can find it HERE.
I linked up for the monthly Prime Purchases post and shared some of my favorite finds. There were some good ones!

Wow, your baked goods sound so yummy. Thanks for hosting and I hope that you have a wonderful week.
Thanks for hosting and for the great ideas and recipes! I love that hammered finish spray paint – I used it on SO many things over the years. Some old brass lamps from the 90’s were transformed and lived in our guest room for 15 years…finally got new ones and the old ones are now at Goodwill. I even sprayed a few brass candlesticks and they turned out great. That stuff is magic!
Totally agree with you, Ann. It’s great paint and has so many uses! Thanks for stopping by!

Thanks so much for including my harvest tree in your features this week! I love seeing all the fall posts popping up. I’m also so glad you reminded me about your method of making pumpkins last outside longer! I’d completely forgotten and I remember how well it worked for me last year. Thanks again and have a great week ahead!
Denise,

Thanks so much Niky! I just read your tutorial on pumpkin preservation, and I’m definitely going to do that, I adore pumpkins but boy they can make a mess when they get rotten! Have a great week and have fun decorating your front porch~

I envy those of you who can incorporate Mums into your outdoor fall decor. Here we are already dipping close to frost at night. Thank you so much for the mini chalkboard feature, Niky! Have a beautiful Sunday 🙂
Oh dear, Marie. I’m not ready for that weather that cold yet. Iowa weather is cold enough for me, and it’s pretty cold.
