Sundays on Silverado #38

Life Lately

Happy Hour!

I went out to Happy Hour for the first time in more than a year!

Now that all of us in the family are fully vaccinated, we’re starting to feel a tiny bit more comfortable in doing a few more things out in the world, especially at places that still practice social distancing and mitgation measures.

I met up with my son at Costco after work, because he wanted to get some items to take in his lunch to work. Afterwards, we stopped into a nearby restaurant for Happy Hour. We were able to sit at a table that was nicely distanced from everyone else, and it wasn’t very busy anway, so it was wonderfully relaxing to just get to sit and chat with him for an hour or so. ❤️💕🍹

Projects

I’ve been working on some fun projects on my Cricuit that I can’t wait to show you guys. One is for the huge Spring-to-Summer Blog Tour that I’m participating in with 28 other bloggers, and the other is a fun little project for vacation. Stay tuned!

In Case You Missed It…

In honor of National Park’s Week, I shared some info (and asked for advice) about our upcoming road trip to several national parks this summer. Thanks so much to those of you who have already offered tips! Keep ’em coming!

I also shared a recipe for Chicago Pizza Pot Pies! It’s a fun twist on ordinary pizza.

These super easy 5-ingredient Dutch Letter Bars continue to be one of the most popular posts on my blog. This week, they were featured on Food Talk, and got more than 14,000 views and shares. They are almond-y, chewy, a little bit unique, and soooo easy.

The Weekly Features!

Poking around in thrift stores, flea markets, and antique malls in one of my favorite things to do, so I was so excited to see all of the amazing posts y’all shared this week about your amazing thrift store finds, and the great upcycling projects that resulted from some of them!

  1. Yay on being vaccinated and able to have some sort of normalcy. I am sure it must have been nice after a year of being locked up. Congratulations on being featured and those bars honestly so darn delicious! I can tell it only takes one bite to fall in love hard. I hope your week is going well so far and happy Wednesday!

      1. Things are starting to open up more and as of April 26th, I am back to in-person teaching. My district brought back the SDC (Special Day Class) classes and since I am a SDC teacher (emotionally disturbed) I am back. But since a small percentage of parents want to come back this school year, they combined schools and even though I am a middle school teacher we are at a high school in our own little area.

  2. Thank you so much for featuring my chalkboard, Niky, I really appreciate it. It was super easy to make and fun to decorate with throughout the year too. Thank you for hosting each week and giving us a fun place to hang out. Hugs and thank yous, CoCo

  3. Wow, going out like that sounds amazing. How interesting it is to find the things we took for granted now feeling so special. Thanks for hosting, enjoy your week.

  4. How exciting – an actual Happy Hour OUT! And so nice to spend time with your son. Can’t wait to see your Cricut projects &/or make those yummy looking desserts! 🙂 Thanks as always for the great features! Happy Sunday!

  5. so nice that you were able to go out and have time with your son. We’ve been out once for my birthday in March and it was well distanced. wow, I really enjoyed getting out for dinner. Thanks so much for hosting, hoping you have a great week!

  6. Niky, how wonderful that you went out for Happy Hour! I have not eaten inside of a restaurant since February of 2020 when I went on a 10 day road trip down the east coast. I came home from that trip feeling so exhilarated and 3 weeks later we were in full lockdown. Fourteen months later and restaurants still make me so darn nervous about the weirdness factor! I think I need to make myself go soon to get over this strange fear of mine. Thanks for hosting the link up. I hope you are having a wonderful weekend.
