Life Lately
After months of dealing with pain and swelling after injuring his knee last January, and then failed arthroscopic surgery in April followed by even more pain and swelling, this guy finally ended up with a total knee replacement on Thursday.
He spent one night in the hospital and is now home and beginning the recovery process.
If you have any tips or tricks for navigating the next few weeks, we’d love to hear them.

Also, dogs have the sweetest hearts. Penny has been very concerned and sticking close to keep an eye on him. ❤️🐾
In Case You Missed It…
Since we’re sticking close to home for a while, other than PT appointments, I used some time to get some of my fall and Halloween decor out, including “The Black Crow Inn” that I made last year.
I hope to also get some pumpkin bread or muffins made. The weather has been dreary and rainy for close to two weeks now, so it definitely feels like baking weather.

Best wishes to your husband on a speedy recovery. Many peopkle rent an special ice machine thta reduces swelling. Alos, I heard that keeping up wiht Physical Therapy is very important.
Thanks, Pat! I’ve been driving him to PT twice a week and it does seem to be helping!
I don’t know if three knee replacements qualifies me for making recommendations. Don’t kill yourself, but do as many of the exercises as you can + one more rep. Take it easy with everything else and heal…everything else isn’t important, make sure you tell your therapist if it really hurts and, yes, get ice at the rehab center when offered. If your doctor or nurses aren’t responding to your questions, requests or complaints, keep a log…and next time take someone with you to witness. Some doctors are assembly line doctors and don’t listen. I walked on a knee that 6 degrees out of alignment for 9 months and the doctor did not listen to my complaints. Yes, pain…but only you will know if something is really wrong! Oh, and get lots of dog, kid, friend, wife, hubby hugs!!!
Oh wow, Sandra. THREE knee replacements make you an expert! Thanks so much for sharing your words of wisdom. It sounds like you went through some struggles, but I hope you’re doing well now.
Mark was given a new pain med called Journavx, and he does think that is helping quite a bit.
Thanks for having us over, Niky!
Hi Niky,
I will be lifting you and your family up in prayer as your husband recovers. So grateful there was a solution. Thanks so much for featuring my Retro Cheeseburger Pie, I really appreciate it! I you have a good week and thank so much for all the awesome parties.
Miz Helen
Thank you so much, Helen!
Tell hubby to keep up the therapy even though it sometimes is painful. The hard work will help to regain full mobility
Great advice. He’s working pretty hard, as a nurse told him that the first two weeks would make all the difference in his long-term recovery. He wants to get back on his bike!
Good morning, Niky. All the best with the recovery after the knee replacement. I had a partial knee replacement and the best thing I could have done. It does take time, he need to be gentle and not overdo it but keep moving, and do the physio. All the best to your husband.
Thank you for this linkup.

Thanks for the advice, Esme. We initially thought he was going to get a partial replacement but then it turned out worse than expected and he had to get the full.
Sending good thoughts your way for your husband’s complete recovery. Hope his PT goes well and he is on his feet soon. Thanks so much for the feature for the Halloween card. They are quite fun to make. Have a wonderful week.

Best of luck, a cousin just had this done as well. She went home next day, and is moving around quite well. They have come miles ahead in this replacement surgery, fortunately!
