Sundays on Silverado #315

late summer sunset on the pasture

Life Lately

It was a fairly quiet week here at The House on Silverado, and after the busyness of the summer, I was okay with that. The next couple of weeks have a lot going on again, so spending some low-key time at home enjoying some late summer weather was just fine by me.

We had a beautiful sunset one night, and as I stepped out on the back deck to appreciate it, I noticed that the pasture was already starting to gain some faint golden tones– a sure sign that fall is quickly approaching.

In Case You Missed It…

I cut a few of my Little Lime hydrangeas to dry and enjoy inside the house into the fall. Drying hydrangeas is super easy. I’ve linked up my simple way of doing it below in case you’d like to try.

This summer peach salad with NO lettuce is my current hyper-fixation. I’m still not ready to trust lettuce again, so this fresh and juicy salad with lots of crunch has been a great fill-in. I’ve made it three times this week; it’s just that good.

  1. Thank you for featuring my Summer Cherry Tomato Salad. I’ve been obsessed with cherry tomatoes this year (especially the multi-colored ones) and even making melon ball/cherry tomato salads ~ or roasting them in the oven and just using them as is over some fresh tortellini for dinner! ** Love hearing about your grandkids. Doesn’t seem so long ago when I was with mine 4 or 5x a week, at their sports, or babysitting or whatever ~ and now 2 just graduated college (and already started working) and their 3 sibs are in college too! (Other grands are in high school in California, so don’t see them ~ 2 great-grands also in California so rarely see them either). I do miss the “grand” old days!
