Life Lately
This guy had unexpected knee surgery this week, so we’ve been lying low around the house while he’s in recovery mode.

We’ve both been a bit stir-crazy, but he can only be on his feet for 15-20 minutes each hour, with icing in between.
Sadly, we had to cancel our first camping trip of the season, but it seemed a necessary trade-off to ensure he’s healed up enough for our Europe trip this summer.
When we found out about the surgery, I thought maybe I could use some of the extra home time to get my garden and annual pots planted, but alas, Mother Nature has not been on our side, and it’s still been far too cold.
I did get some odd jobs around the house done, along with my caretaker duties, and I picked my first batch of rhubarb, so I hope to get something baked this afternoon.
Plus, I did get a couple of extra posts written this week, though, so at least there’s that. I’ll link the new ones below in case you missed them.
In Case You Missed It…
I’ve been working hard at getting more protein in my diet recently. I’ve never been a big meat-eater, and getting enough protein is always a challenge, especially as I age. I tried this High Protein Jello & Greek Yogurt Cup Recipe, and it’s a keeper! I think it will be fun to mix it up with various Jello flavors and summer fruits.
I also added a Prime Purchases post for May, if you’d like to check out some of my fun finds. Be sure to link up as well with your own shopping finds if you’re a blogger!

Praying that recovery goes well! A trip to Europe sounds like great motivation! Happy May to you and your family!
Wow! I have never heard of anyone having “unexpected” knee surgery before. Most people deal with a lot of pain for many years before getting a knee replacement. Did he have an accident? My rhubarb is up but I’m not sure it’s ready for picking yet. I’ll have to check it today since you already picked some of yours. Thanks for the party.
Ha, I’m in the “knee pain for years” camp, and will likely need knee replacement this winter. Yes, he tore his miniscus on a ladder and then aggravated it on a bike ride. Unfortunately, they couldn’t do the repair they thought, so he’s slated for a partial kneee replacement this winter, too. We will need to coordinate our surgeries. LOL
Hope your husabnd recouperates quickly! We may have snoiw this week so no gardening on my end until June.
Hi Niky,
Hope your husband is on the mend and you guys are enjoying the wonderful spring days. Have a great week and thanks so much for the party!
Miz Helen
Thanks for the party and the feature. I’m glad you enjoyed my cottage garden post. It was a fun one to put together. Have a great Sunday. XO- MaryJo
Good morning, Niky, thank you for this linkup.
WOW, all the best after the knee surgery. I have had a partial knee replacement and know what he’s going through. All the best and speedy recovery
