Life Lately

The weather has been up and down around here lately, but with the windows closed, it’s still been nice enough to enjoy plenty of time in our three-season porch. By afternoon, it’s been nice enough to open several windows and get plenty of fresh air.
Come on, spring. I’m ready for all the outside time.

In other news, we had a reverse osmosis water system installed in our home this weekend.
Maybe you’ve seen the news reports that Iowa has one of the fastest-growing cancer rates in the country, with a major contributing factor being nitrate runoff from farm fields into the water supply.

We stopped drinking tap water a while back after reading some shocking data and have been buying bottled water for ourselves and Penny Puppy while we did our research on home water filtration systems.
We finally settled on the system we wanted, and it’s been on backorder for a bit. Apparently, we aren’t the only ones who have grown extremely concerned about the state of our drinking water.
If you’re interested, drop me a comment, and I’ll share info about the system we went with and why we chose it.
If you aren’t interested in getting something professionally installed, there are several good countertop options available that will give you access to safer drinking/cooking water without as much hassle and expense.

And finally, here is a little something on a brighter note.
Little Miss Evie’s school held a read-a-thon fundraiser. Our sweet preschooler managed to bring in the most donations of any student in the whole school!
Supporting her love of books is an extra special joy, considering doctors said she’d “never even go to school”. Warrior Evie continues to prove all of those predictions wrong. 📚❤️

In Case You Missed It…
What have you got planned for Easter?
My daughter is hosting this year at her home, so I’m not doing the majority of the cooking. I’m thinking about making a fun Easter Bundt Cake using one of my Nordic Ware pans.
If you’re looking for some Easter dessert ideas, here are a couple of simple desserts perfect for spring.

Our tap water is awful, I have been using bottled water for a while now. Especially for our cats, ever since one of our cats developed bladder stones years ago. I am so ready for Spring weather. PA is cooperating a bit today, but it’s been a brutal Winter with the cold!
Hi Niky,
Thanks so much for featuring my Retro Ambrosia Salad, I really appreciate it. Have a blessed Easter Week and thanks so much for the party!
