Sundays on Silverado #26

Life Lately

We had another huge snow storm this week that dropped more than 12 inches of snow on us. That resulted in an early release from school on Monday and then a snow day on Tuesday for me.

My poor husband still had to get to work at the hospital though, so this is him clearing the snow from the driveway at 4:45 a.m. 😫

Since I was home all day alone, I used my extra time to finish up many of the projects I started on the previous snow day from the week before! 😂

I put the finishing touches on this special project, which will be featured on the DIY Blog Hop next Sunday, February 7, so be sure to check back then, and I’ll show you how I made it, and why it’s so special to me. 💕

I swithed up my favorite tiered tray from its winter theme to a Valentine’s Day one.

I finished my Vintage Button Heart on Reclaimed Wood project for round 2 of the Valentine’s Day Blog Hop yesterday.

I had fun arranging my sweet vintage dishes from my grandmothers, mom, and mother-in-law into a pretty display for Valentine’s Day.

I finally decided on a rug for my kitchen and got it ordered. But, it was too slippery and the edges would not lay down flat, which is bad, since this is a high traffic area in the kitchen. So, I orderd THESE rug grippers for the corners, and they are fabulous! The rug stays in place, but can be easily lifted up for cleaning, too.

Plus, I’m just so happy with this rug. It took me a long time to find one that was the right color, pattern, length and style, but this one is a keeper. My husband said, “Leave it to my wife to be able to find a rug that looks almost exactly like our granite counters.” 🤣 I hadn’t noticed, but he’s kind of right.

Before the rug grippers. Now, it lays down beautifully.

And finally, I baked some banana bread, using my mom’s tried and true recipe. Seriously, I’ve tried a lot of banana breads, and none are as good as this old standby.

Clearly, snow days are my jam. I’ve been getting so much done! I’m not sure why a snow day is any different than the other 1,345,920 days we’ve been trapped in the house due to a pandemic, but apparently it takes a blizzard to motivate me. 😂🤣 ❄️

  1. These Valentine’s Day inspired features are so much fun, Niky! Thanks so much for including my tablescape. I really appreciate it. I hope your week is a happy one. I can’t get over all the snow! Hugs, CoCo

  2. Those are some fabulous snow day projects! We’re supposed to get nearly a foot tomorrow into Tuesday and then another snow storm next Monday too. I think winter has finally arrived.

  3. Oh how I remember shoveling the driveway at 5:00 in the morning from my years in Minneapolis!! What a trooper your husband is! I’m with you though – staying home for a snow day is the best – and I’m impressed with your beautiful projects! 🙂 Thanks for hosting this lovely party, and Happy Sunday!

  4. You had a great blog week! When I was teaching, snow days were gold. I loved having time at home to get projects done. Now in my area, the snow days are still working days for teachers as they are expected to do online learning. I hate that for both the teachers and the kids. Thanks for hosting!

    1. Hi Paula! Yes, the snow days have been very productive for me, but I won’t be loving it come June when we have to make them up! I told my husband that I guess it’s better to have days off now, when COVID numbers are high, and maybe my June when we have make up days, all the teachers will be vaccinated. Fingers crossed.
      Have a great week!
