Life Lately
We spent some time this past weekend catching up on some projects around the house. It’s been a very long time since we had a full weekend that wasn’t scheduled with other things.
We spent most of it outside. We got the camper all cleaned up for our next trip. We’re camping with the littles this time, so I’m super excited!
My husband braved the RV roof, but I did my part by making some simple campfire starters using dryer lint and recycled toilet paper tubes.
They are super easy to make and a great way to recycle items we all have at home. Plus, they work great!
The garden is looking good, and the spring lettuce is emerging!
While we were outside, we noticed this next in my hydrangea bush. I was curious about the two different types of eggs, so I did a little research.
Google tells me it’s the result of something called “brood parasitism”, where one bird lays its eggs in the nest of another bird. The most common culprit in North America is the brown-headed cowbird. They lay their eggs in the nests of other birds, and the host birds raise the cowbird chicks.
Very interesting. This was new learning for me. Has anyone else ever seen this?
During all of our outdoor work, our neighbor gave us a fun “parade” with a trot down the road on her horses. Always love seeing these gorgeous animals, especially up close.
Penny Puppy was so worn out from her day outdoors, she didn’t even notice. 🤣
In Case You Missed It…
My rhubarb is still going strong, so I whipped up these delicious and easy rhubarb streusel bars. One batch I sent to the hospital as a treat for a family member who was under the weather. The other batch we devoured at home. 🏡

Thanks for the link up, Niky! Your rhubarb streusel bars look so yummy! I have never heard of birds sharing a nest for their eggs with the host bird raising the babies. I’m intrigued! My daughter and our Littles have had fun watching a robin and her babies the past two weeks and we’ve been doing the same at our lake home. We’ve had such fun sharing photos, Facetime and texts!
