Sundays on Silverado #241

Life Lately

It was a busy, but wonderful week around here, filled with lots of grandbaby time!

Baby Claire was in town, and we got to spend a couple of hours with her. Pops was able to make her laugh and laugh. ❤️

Then, I headed to Evie and Hayden’s house for a couple of days. The first day was so nice out, so we took full advantage by spending the morning at the park, and eating lunch in the club house of their new play set.

After naps, my daughter made us protein smoothies for a snack. Evie approved.

On the last day, we squeezed in storytime at the library before I had to leave because the big storm was moving in. (Hayden was there too, but the one time I had a moment to get my camera out, he was off exploring somewhere 😜).

While I was with the kids, Penny took an off-leash pack hike with her trainer. If you look veeeerrry closely, you can see her standing on the bank of the creek, knee-deep in mud. The tiniest dog of them all, and probably the muddiest. You should have seen our tub after her bath that evening. 😱

She comes home dirty, happy, tired, and hungry.

But, she’s also a pretty picky eater, so I’ve been experimenting with making some homemade dog food to go on top of her puppy kibble. Anyone else have homemade dog food tips to share?

I purchased the Small Dog’s Kitchen cookbook and I like that the recipes are pretty simple with easy-to-source human-quality ingredients. I bought these silicone trays to freeze 1-cup portions–each cube lasts her for a couple of days. I supplement her food with this Native Daily and Native Omega Fish Oil to make sure she’s getting her nutrients.

I’m open to any and all advice. My last dog had severe food allergies and was on a very strict diet, so having options to feed Penny is new to me.

In Case You Missed It…

Has Spring sprung in your area? It’s still cold and windy here, but as I walked the dog around our property I noticed a few small signs… the tulips are peeking out, the rhubarb is emerging, and the chives are well on their way. I’m so ready…

Until then, here are a couple of posts to help you prepare your house for spring. Just click the pic for all the details.
