Sundays on Silverado #24

Life Lately

A Much Needed Long Weekend

We limped into a long weekend around here, which was much needed. It was already scheduled to be a three-day weekend because of the MLK holiday on Monday, but then we also had a blizzard, which bought us a snow day on Friday. Praise Jesus, because I needed it. 🙌🏻

Additionally, Tuesday is a teacher workday for the end of the semester, and we are being allowed to work from home.

So, this extra little span of days at home is a nice treat, after the chaos that has been life lately. It’s been a “whole pot” kinda week. Two weeks actually. Okay, a year.

Hopefully a slower pace this weekend will offer some respite.

The Weekly Features

I shared my Fun Vintage Finds post with you this week, and talked about how I usually have a list of things that I’m currently “on the hunt” for when we go antique/vintage shopping.

Now, after all the great shares from this week’s Sundays on Silverado, can you guess what new obsession I’m having? 🤣 All of the 4 features below contain beautiful pieces of patterned transferware, that now, I’m thinking of adding some pieces to my list.

I’m typically an all-white dishes kind of girl, but mixing in some fun pieces of transferware is starting to appeal to me!

You might remember these beautiful 1940s red transferware dishes I picked up for a steal last fall at a barn sale. I’ve been having fun using them for various purposes, and now I think more are in my future. The hunt is on…

  1. So much fun to see all these different transferware patterns features, Niky! I really appreciate you including mine and our diy farmhouse tool caddy too. I hope your week is a happy one. Hugs and thanks for hosting each week, CoCo

  2. Once again I’m in love with your décor Niky. Those pink pattern plates hold a special place in my heart as my Grandparents had a set of them. We’ve just spent the past 3mths (lockdown permitting) clearing my Grandparents house after we lost my Gran in March, Grandpa 18mths before that. Mum and I spent hours and hours going through everything and sharing our memories about things we came across. Lots of table ware was donated to local cafes and I think Gran will be thrilled with this idea. I took a few keep sakes for my food photography and I smile every time I use them x

    1. You are always so kind, Rebecca!
I so sorry to hear about the loss of your grandparents. I can relate as I’ve recently has nearly the same experience. After losing my mother in January of 2018 and my father last January, we spent the summer going through everything in their home, and then selling my childhood home in November.
I have many keepsakes that have such great memories, but this was truly one of the hardest experiences of my life.
Thanks for taking the time to comment, Rebecca. I always enjoy hearing from you!
      Niky

  3. The features are wonderful examples of how to display and use transferware dishes.
