Life Lately
This past week was the first week of school in my district, and the first time I wasn’t there in about 50ish years. My entire life has revolved around school in some form; grade school, high school, college, grad school, and 30 years of classroom teaching.
It felt a bit bittersweet as friends were sharing all of their first-day-of-school photos, but at the same time, I felt blessed to be able to spend the first days of school doing this instead…

Iowa broke a record from the 1970s by officially reaching 100 degrees on the first day of school. With the humidity factored in, it felt like 118. Breaking out the kiddie pool kept Evie cool and happy.
We picnicked and enjoyed music down the road at “Fridays at the Farm” and Evie used the little lawn chair that was mine as a child. It was the perfect size for her.

I ordered this Toddler Learning Tower for Evie, and it’s perfect for her to help Gigi in the kitchen.
We had to make a quick stop at Target for some diapers and supplies. Gigi had an iced coffee, and Evie was thrilled with her own “Starbucks”, aka a cup of water with a green straw. 🤣

The garden is delivering the very last of the tomatoes. There’s nothing quite as good as a homegrown harden tomato, right?
I’m super excited that my newest custom closet from Wood Closet Designs has arrived. Remember the office and craft closet makeover we did in the spring? It was so wonderful that I’m working with Wood Closet Designs again to share TWO new custom closets with you! Stay tuned!
In Case You Missed It…
It was Pinterest Challenge week again, and I shared this pretty hydrangea centerpiece that transitions easily from late summer to early fall by just swapping out a couple of items. Check out all of the other gorgeous creations HERE.

The first day of school after retiring is strange…I retired from teaching after 28 years, so I get it. It was time and honestly, I miss the kids but not the rest of it! Thank you so much for featuring my wreath and have a wonderful week!
