Sundays on Silverado #156

Life Lately

Oh, we had such an incredible time on our vacation last week. I’m feeling a bit of “vacation depression” now. Does that happen to anyone else?

This trip was a couple of years in the making– so much planning and dreaming and preparation. And then in the blink of an eye, it was over.

We made so many memories though, and it made my heart so happy to spend a solid 8 days with my favorite people.

I am hoping to do a full post about our trip, as many people have asked me questions about Disney to Alaska.

For today, I’ll just share a few of my favorite photos here, but you can also hop over to my Instagram where I shared lots of pics in my stories. You can see them all here: Travel Highlights

In Case You Missed It…

I shared my latest creation this week; this hand-painted chair in honor of the back-to-school season. It’s already found its new home.

This colorful chair went to a first-year teacher beginning her career teaching 2nd grade this fall, so that made me happy. I always loved getting my classroom all set up and decorated for the new year. During the school year, I spent just as much time there as I did at home, so I always wanted it to be a comfortable and cheerful place for both me and my students.

As you might recall, I won’t be going back to the classroom this fall for the first time in 30 years since I am now officially retired, but I still love back-to-school time. The beginning of a new school year just felt like a fresh start with so many possibilities ahead.

Good luck, Katelyn! Wishing you the best school year ahead.

  1. I am so excited to hear more about your trip, Niky! All the photos you shared so far are amazing. Evie’s face – like I can’t even take her cuteness – she is totally adorable. On a side note, congratulations on your retirement from teaching. My Mom taught 1st grade and EMH so I know how hard you’ve worked to get to this happy place. Soak it in! Sending you lots of hugs and thank yous for the sweet feature. I really appreciate it, CoCo

    1. Thank you so much for your sweet comments, CoCo! I agree, Evie is totally addictive in her cuteness! She has me hook, line, and sinker!
Yes, retirment feels good, and odd at the same time. My entire life, I’ve been a part of the school system in some way–as a student myself, as a teacher, as a consultant. It definitely feels strange not to be preparing for back-to-school right now, but also a relief at the same time!
Thanks for stopping by, sweet friend, and for sharing all of your creativity. I always find it so inspiring!

  2. Alaska! We would love to take a trip there. Looks everyone had fun, including Evie! Her little smile always makes me smile. Are you happy about retirement? It is kind of difficult to get used to, mine came unexpectantly. It has taken me a little over a year to get used to a routine. Best wishes in retirement!

    1. Hi Cara! We had such a good time. Evie’s smile is addictive, I agree. 🙂 My retirement came a bit unexpectedly as well, and I”m still adjusting. I’d love an tips and tricks for getting used to it!

I would love to do another one and since we live in California I’ve always thought the Alaska one might be a good option for us. Thanks for the party. XO- MaryJo
