Sundays on Silverado #152

Drone pictures

Life Lately

Our youngest son came over this week with his new drone. He’s working for a roofing company for his summer job, and he offered to take some aerial shots of our home for us.

I have several aerial pics of the farm I spent a lot of time on as a child, and one of the farm my dad grew up on too. Those were taken back when companies would fly over farms with small planes, and then go door-to-door offering to sell them the photo.

I liked the idea of having a similar photo of our own property. I’d say Kyle did a pretty good job.

He even captured an aerial view of my garden!

HERE is the drone he used, if you’re in the market.

Fun story: A couple of months ago, I made an offer on an item that was for sale on Facebook Marketplace. It turned out that the item was being sold by the current owners of my dad’s childhood farm! When we realized this, she invited me over for coffee. We spent a couple of hours chatting, and she sent me home with this aerial photo of Dad’s farm. She was so sweet and kind. Life is funny like that sometimes, isn’t it? Dropping unexpected little blessings right into your lap.

In other news, our sweet Evie made her modeling debut on the Sage and Ivory Instagram page!

The ocean-themed print she’s modeling from Sage & Ivory baby clothes is beautiful, but our baby girl is even more beautiful. Be sure to stop over to their Instagram and tell them that Evie sent you!

In Case You Missed It…

This week was Pinterest Challenge again! If you’re looking for some patriotic inspiration, be sure to check it out for beautiful red, white & blue ideas from more than a dozen home decor bloggers. Plus, you can hear the story of my American History transferware collection that I began as a young teacher taking kids to D.C. for spring break!

Dixie Belle Paint came out with a gorgeous new decoupage paper in a vintage butterfly pattern. As soon as I saw it, this project came to mind. It’s similar to a display I saw on an antique road trip we did earlier this spring, but the prices on those pieces were much more expensive. I got the same look with just a little easy DIY.

Holiday Ideas

Check out this post to see how to set up a simple little Bomb Pop drink bar for your July 4th party. This Paint Stick Flag would be a fun project to make with the kids on July 4th, too!

  1. What a cool way to reconnect with your childhood home, Niky! Love the footage from your property, it’s gorgeous, and of course the fabulous pictures of Evie too. She’s such a cute pie! Hugs and thanks for hosting, CoCo

  2. How fun are those pictures! I would love an aerial of our home. A friend in college flew a small 4 seater plane and he would take us up and I have some fabulous aerials of the campus. It’s such a great perspective. Evie is the cutest! And the perfect model. Have a fabulous 4th of July. XO- MaryJo

  3. Love the story of your father’s childhood farm and how she gave you a pic of it. Evie looks adorable in her modeling debut!

  4. Such great photos with the drone; the place looks amazing. A drone is definitely on my bucket list, but probably I’ll be needing a month to learn how to use it. Thank you again for hosting, I really enjoy to be a part of your parties 🙂
