Life Lately
This was the longest election “night” of my life, literally. I knew it was going to be a hard week, but the stress of waiting this out really took a toll on me. Anyone else?
Every morning, I’d wake up and immediately look at my phone to see if there was an update. And every morning, still this:

Why would we excpect anything different from 2020 though, right?

Survival was the name of the game this week and it took a lot of coping strategies to make it through. Here’s what self-care looked like this week:
Halloween Charcuterie...

Online shopping….
Nothing fun though, just necessity shopping to keep me out of the stores because our COVID numbers in Iowa are SHOCKING right now, adding one more layer of stress. 😩

Sunsets…
Nature always has a way of making me feel better.

Beautiful fall weather…

Projects…
The weather was so gorgeous, that I decided to take advantage of it and move this DIY project up on my to-do list. I had thought I’d have to wait until spring to give it a makeover, but these recent warm days inspired me to work on it while I enjoyed sunshine and stress-relief. Can’t wait to show you the finished product!

The Weekly Features!
This week’s feature selections encompass three of my favorite things– furniture makeovers, antiques, and travel!

Painting a Headboard | Wise Little Owl Furniture
My love of furniture DIYs made this post by Wise Little Owl jump out, especially because I have a very similar headboard waiting to be painted! This one turned out lovely!

Antique Rocking Horse | Common Ground
This antique rocking horse stole my heart. I’d love to have something similar! What a find.

RV Roadtrip | Life of 2 Snowbirds
I’m missing travel so much right now. Reading the adventures of these two snowbirds makes me ready to move retirement up on my “to-do list” as well! 😂

Thanks so much for always linking up with such great posts, you guys! Can’t wait to see what you’ve been up to this week. 💙

Lots of fun posts to dive into this week, Niky! I can’t believe how much the cases have gone up either. I just sent your funny election memes to my sisters. They’re so funny and spot-on too! Hope your week is a special one. Thanks so much for hosting, CoCo
Beautiful and peaceful pics you posted. Here in the San Francisco Bay Area our cases are going up and things are interesting. I just try to focus on my students and make our little world peaceful.
Thanks for hosting and I hope that you have a wonderful week.
I have been ordering a lot too but mostly Christmas gifts as I like to get a jump on that.
Hi Nicky, I just recently discovered your blog and this party, what a great way to start a new week! You should send your election map to the news stations, it looks just like theirs 🙂 Stressful times! At least we can enjoy blogging and virtual visits…our chance to get away for a while! Thank you for hosting and I loved the photos of your beautiful countryside and the peaceful animals!
Thanks so much for featuring my antique horsey, Niky. My parents bought that for me when I was a baby and it was already and antique. I really do treasure it. Loved your post! Hope you have a great week.
Oh, that makes it EVEN better to have such memories attached to it! 💕
Thank you so much for featuring our road trip! I know we are all longing for the day we can travel without worrying about catching a crazy virus. Glad the crazy waiting to see who won the election is over! Your map said it all!
I’m so late to the party this week and so glad I made it on time. I’m going to blame it on the stressful week. Yes, talk about being on pins and needles…and I’m Canadian! Not gonna lie, I was dancing for joy with the results when they finally came in. Have a great week!
I’m loving your posts Niky – this one is an excellent reminder of all the beauty and kindness out there, in spite of “fabulous” 2020! 🙂 Thanks for that and the humor – plus I’d love to share that charcuterie board – Wonderful!
Niky, yes, I know exactly how you feel about this election. Your illustration is perfect. I’ve cried some tears, not slept well, and just feel a mix of shock, sadness and confusion. Anyone with half a brain could have predicted this fiasco was going to happen. Hopefully, we will learn our lesson. Thank goodness we have creativity and blogging to help take our minds off this disaster.
Thanks for hosting Niky! I love the photos of the US map (so apt!) and your “goodies” at the door (we have porch bandits where I live so we can never let things pile up!) Congrats again on being featured at Inspire Me Monday at Create WIth Joy. Have an amazing week!
Thank you again for the feature! And darn those “porch bandit”. We’ve been lucky so far, but I suppose it could happen anywhere. I try to bring the packages in as soon as I get home, but those all piled up while I was away!
This certainly has been a stressful year, one unlike any I’d thought I’d ever see. But it has taught me to savor ordinary pleasures and sitting outside with my goofy Lab. And it has taught me the value of patience. Thank you for providing a bright spot each Sunday!
I totally agree with you Sandra. We have to focus on the things we can control right now and find joy in the little things. Here’s to hoping things will soon move in a brighter direction.
Thank you for stopping by and sharing each week. I always look forward to seeing your beautiful posts!
Scary times indeed, here in the UK we’re seeing 24K+ more people with C19 every day and deaths are up to 450+ a day again. Thank goodness that there is some good news in the world today and your post with those beautiful photos has made me smile.
Thank you so much for stopping by. Yes, I agree, things are out of control. Hoping things will head in a better direction soon, but in the meantime, it helps to focus on the “happy”. 🙂
