Life Lately
I only have one week of summer vacation left, and things have been so busy trying to squeeze in all the things I still need to get done!
I’ve been running here and there with appointments and errands, and working my self silly on projects around the house that I want to finish before school starts.
Plus, we have several different house guests scheduled to come over the next couple of weeks, which I love, but that definitely takes some planning and preparation.
I mean, this place is affectionately named The House on Silverado Bed & Breakfast for a reason!

I got some more homemade pickles made, but I’m just not going to have the time to do all the canning that I did last summer, so I’ve been trying some new ways to preserve our bounty. Watch for this “sun-dried” tomato recipe on the blog soon.

It hasn’t all be work though. I went to stay with my daughter, son-in-law, and favorite baby for a couple of days early this week. It was so much fun.

I got to babysit for several hours each day so my daughter could get her hair done and get caught up on some things. This baby is a joy to spend time with. She’s such a happy girl.
In Case You Missed It…
This week was the first Tuesday of the month, so it was time to link up with my Prime-Minded friends and share our purchases for the month. You can find them HERE.
I also discovered a gargantuan zucchini in our garden this week, which required me to bake some zucchini bread. 😂 This rich Chocolate Zucchini Bread fit the bill. I made one loaf for home, and one to take when I visited the kids and baby this week.

The Weekly Features!
It’s that time of year that I’m trying to squeeze in as much outdoor time as possible before I go back to school and get trapped inside all day.
Right now in Iowa, it’s been unbearably hot during the day, but the mornings are comfortably cool, so I use that as my opportunity to get in some outside time.
Here was my morning coffee company earlier this week…

But, that cool fall weather is on it’s way, so now is the time to add some comfy and cozy elements to your patio. What about a fire table, a warm blanket (or two), and definitely some fall-inspired pillows!
Then, you’ll be all ready for some cozy nights outdoors, maybe making some s’mores over your firepit (check out THIS super cool rotating marshmallow reel!) Or, whip up some adults-only S’mores Martinis to sip by the fire.
Plus, now is the time to pick up some spring/summer patio decor while it’s all on clearance. That way, you’ll be ready to freshen up your patio for next year– on a budget.

Here is some great patio inspiration to get you started…
- Farmhouse Planter with Fern | Penny’s Treasures
- DIY Patio Makeover | Must Have Mom
- Garden Art Easel | WM Design House
- Summer Apartment Porch Ideas | My Wee Abode
All features have been pinned to the Sundays on Silverado Pinterest Board!
