Patriotic Decorating Ideas

With Memorial Day Weekend coming up, and July 4th not far behind, it’s time to start thinking about patriotic decorating ideas!

So, today’s your lucky day, because it’s time for another round of the Pinterest Challenge, hosted by Cindy from County Road 407, and this month’s theme is all about the good ol’ red, white, and blue!

I love decorating with patriotic colors, and including flags in our displays is such a great reminder of what this weekend is really all about. 🇺🇸

If you’ve found your way here from Thistle Key Lane, welcome! Michelle always has such pretty designs.

If you haven’t heard about the Pinterest Challenge before, here’s how it works: Several different bloggers take the same photo, and create something similar that will work in their own homes, and with their own style.

I love seeing all of the different creations, and always end up with so much inspiration.

Patriotic Decorating Ideas Using Flags

This month, we’re doing something just a teeny bit different. Our requirements are to create something patriotic, that includes a flag in some way, rather than modeling our designs specifically from the photo.

Here’s some inspiration from Cindy, the creator behind the Edith and Evelyn blog. I adore this entryway–the beams, the shiplap, the skylight….and the FLAG.

Simple Patriotic Flowers & Flags

I’m one of those people who really enjoys decorating my home, but that doesn’t have to always be a complicated process.

Sometimes we all just need things to be simple. No worries– it’s easy to create a simple patriotic display with literally just a few items. In this case, I used several things from the Dollar Store!

I started with this beautiful flower bucket that my husband gave me as a gift.

Then, I tucked a few faux hydrangeas and some greenery into the basket.

This part alone would make an easy lovely summer centerpiece.

To add some patriotic flair to it, I tucked a couple of small flags from the Dollar Tree on each side. You can also get THIS bundle of 12 from Amazon pretty inexpensively.

Patriotic Decorating Ideas from the Dollar Tree

While shopping at Dollar Tree, I found this pretty patriotic patterned scarf, and knew it would make a great table runner!

With the addition of a couple of rustic wooden stars, this display was all done!

It adds a nice patriotic touch to my big farmhouse table that’s perfect for Memorial Day, or July 4, and it was about as easy (and inexpensive) as it gets.

  1. I was admiring the table runner – had no idea it was a scarf, but that’s great! I will need to pop into Dollar Tree and see if I can find one for my entryway table.

  2. So simple and sweet Niky! That patterned scarf reminds me of a vintage quilt and works perfectly for a patriotic table setting! You can never go wrong with hydrangeas, real or faux!

  3. Niky, I love your centerpiece made with the sweet bucket your husband gave you plus just some simple white hydrangeas and little American flags!! Those hydrangeas will give you years of happiness every time you see them out in the yard, too! Lovely!!!
(Mine are all blooming madly right now, also!)

    Happy Memorial Day to you,
    Barb 🙂
