New Year’s Eve Appetizer & Cocktail Ideas

New Year’s Eve is just around the corner. I’m ready for 2020 to make its exit. Are you with me?

I saw this meme recently and it made me laugh.

Kind of.

But at the same time, it does sort of sum up how I’m feeling….

Let’s just ease on into ’21 and see how it goes… Easy does it….

This heinous year making its exit is something worth celebrating, though. Our plan is to stay home and have a quiet “fondue for two”, but I can promise you that we will be raising a glass at midnight to toast the end of 2020.

Whatever your plans may be, here’s a round-up of come fun food and cocktails that would be perfect for ringing in the new year. Or even more importanly, ringing out the old one.

Beer Bread

We are having cheese fondue in a melting pot this year, and I am thinking about mixing up a loaf of this bread as one of our “dippers”. It’s easy, and it’s sooooo good.

Charcuterie

You can never go wrong with a good charcuterie tray.

Hot & Cheesy Corn Dip

This dip has become a family favorite. We make it frequently, sometimes even for an easy dinner when we need a night in front of the TV.

Hot Reuben Dip

This is just like a reuben sandwhich in dip form, especially if you serve it with some Rye Triscut crackers for

Fresh Salsa

Chips and salsa is a classic, but you can take it up a notch by making fresh salsa. I love making it with tomatoes from my garden, but even grocery store tomatoes taste great in this fresh salsa, which beats jarred salsa any day.

Fresh Guacamole

Guacamole is easily one of our favorite dips around here. This version is inspired by one that was made table-side for us on a Mexican vacation a couple of years ago.

BLT Pizza

You can never go wrong with pizza, but this twist on classic pizza is a fun way to mix things up.

Roasted Tomato Flatbread

I made these flatbreads on mini naan breads, which makes them perfectly appetizer-sized. The roasted tomatoes are the star here, though. They are slightly charred, with a concentrated tomato-y flavor.

Maple Bourbon Glazed Brussels Sprouts

Whenver we (used to) go out to dinner, we always order Brussels Sprouts if they have it on the menu as an appetizer. We’ve tried a lot of Brussels apps, but this one from Le Cellier in Disney World is still one of our very favorites. Since having it there last year, we’ve now made it at home many, many times over. The kids love it, too!

Zucchini Fritters

This is the perfect little appetizer platter. These fritters are crispy and flavorful, and the creamy dip just puts them over the top.

Cocktails

Make Your Own Margarita Flight

Four different flavored margaritas to share (or not). What’s not to like?

The Best Fresh Lime Margarita

My husband makes the best margaritas. No really, I’m serious–they are the best. Since I posted this recipe, I’ve had many people tell me it’s now their favorite, too.

Frozen Strawberry Margarita

My favorite margarita is my husband’s fresh lime marg on the rocks, but once in awhile, a frozen margarita hits the spot, particularly a strawberry one. This one is sweet and tart at the same time.

Plus, if you like fish tacos, this post includes a great recipe!

S’mores Martini

This picture says it all. Creamy, smooth, chocolatey. This is like a cocktail and a dessert wrapped in one.

Pineapple Vodka Smash

Truly a party in a glass. We had a blizzard in Iowa today, so tropical cocktails for NYE sounds like a good idea to me. 😂

Fresh Fruit Martinis

This recipe for fresh fruit martinis is customizable with whatever fruit you want to use. So many possibilities!

Apple Cider Martini

We drank these on repeat in the fall, and I’d be happy to have one on NYE, too. 😂

Cranberry Lime Vodka Spritzer

This mixes up in a pitcher, so you can whip up a batch and be ready to serve yourself and your friends Or just yourself. Because, 2020.

Bonus Dessert

Molten Lava Cakes with Peanut Butter Filling

If you want an easy, yet decadent little dessert for NYE, look no further. You’ve probably had molten chocolate lava cakes before, but have you tried them with a peanut butter center?

You’re welcome.

Cheers to saying goodbye to 2020! Happy New Year!
