Let’s Look: Winter Wardrobe

It’s time again for another “Let’s Look”, with  Shay and Erika! Each month they host a link up where we take a peek at the little things in our lives.

Last month, we shared what was on our beside tables, and this month it’s our winter wardrobes. I enjoy these posts because I always get such good ideas from my blogger friends! Plus, it’s just plain fun to get a little peak into other people’s lives and ways of doing things.

Winter Wardrobe Fundamentals

Despite how many things are in my closet, I seem to have a few fundamental pieces that I gravitate toward. They’re just comfy or versatile or cute, or all three…. and they get the most wear all season. Here are my favorites…

Athleta scores at the top of my list for comfy, casual, wearable pieces that I go back to again and again.

The Pranayama Wrap is one of my favorite pieces. It made the cut on my Christmas Favorite Things list for 2019. I own it in two colors, and have gifted it to my daughter in multiple colors as well. It’s comfy, stylish, and can be worn over leggings or dressed up a bit when paired with some nice jeans and boots.… so many options.

Also from Athleta, this year I purchased the Cozy Karma Asym Pullover in this beautiful pink shade called Dogwood Mauve. The zippered neckline and crossover detail on this sweatshirt make it extra cute, plus it’s so comfy!

And from Athleta again (are you noticing a pattern here?) my husband got me these adorable leopard print leggings for my birthday. They are perfect with my Pranayama wraps and my Cozy Karma Asym Pullover! Athleta for the win on this year’s winter wardrobe. Comfy and fashionable at the same time.

I have the black/gray, but they also come in the most beautiful PINK, which I may need to add to my collection this winter! 😁

My Sorel boots also made the cut for my Favorite Things post and I’m including them here, too. I love, love, love these boots! I have them in black, but I am thinking about getting them in another color as well. Yes, they are that good. They are stylish, they keep my feet warm and dry, and they are so comfortable! I wore them this past weekend while antique shopping in the Amana Colonies, and my feet held up all day. I’m telling you ladies, if you don’t have these boots in your winter wardrobe yet, you need some. 👍🏻👍🏻

I have the black ones pictured below

But I’m longing for another pair, possibly in gray (quarry) or camel. I may try the ones with the zipper on the side, too. Aren’t they cute?

Or maybe the ones with the buckles on the ankle. The struggle is real, ladies. These boots are fabulous.

I read about these Signature by Levi Strauss & Co. Gold Label Women’s Totally Shaping Pull-on Skinny Jeans on another blog, and after looking them up on Amazon, I decided to try them myself. They have almost 30,000 great reviews so far!

I got them in black, but they have multiple color options. I like that they are comfy, and a little bit stretchy, but they don’t lose their shape. They are mid-rise, and give you just the right amount of room in the thighs and hips, while still being skinny in the legs and ankles. More than 10,000 women can’t be wrong, right?

My Northface Women’s Gotham Parka II is my favorite winter coat that I’ve ever owned. I had it first, and liked it so much, my daughter bought the same one!

It’s water-repellent, warm, has a hood, and comes down to about mid-thigh on me. It’s perfect for whatever Iowa winters can dish out.

The Gotham is the one I own, but the Metropolis is similar and is a bit longer. Plus it comes in even more fun colors! You can order it from Amazon, or directly from Northface for more size and color options.

Like it or not, winter is coming and it’s time to start getting that winter wardrobe in order friends! ❄️

Happy Shopping!

  1. Can you tell me how the Pranayama Wrap fits? Did you order true to size? Some reviews say to size down as its roomy? I am typically an 8 in athleta – in most tanks am a medium but I can be a small in some looser cut too… thanks!

    1. Hello Heather. I would say the Pranayama Wrap does run a bit large. I would definitely size down. I love these wraps and returns are easy, so if you do happen to need a different size, it would be an easy exchange.
      Thanks for stopping by!

  2. My Hubby knows that Athleta is my love language. I just ordered a pair of the desert beige cargo twill pants because a friend was wearing them yesterday and they looked so cute! Lucky me- they were on sale from $108 to $54. Yes please! We don’t have any Athleta close by until recently, they just added one in the town by our beach house on the central coast. So now I can take things back so much more easily. They have the best return policy next to Nordstrom! Happy Wednesday!

    1. Athleta can quickly become a dangerous habit! I love so many of their pieces, but they can add up fast! So glad you found a bargain on your cargo pants. Sounds like your hubby is a keeper, too. ❤️😂

Thanks for stopping by, and for connecting with me!
