Today I’m joining Shay and Erika for their series called “Let’s Look”. Each month they host a link-up where we take a peek at the little things in our lives.

This Month = Our Desks!
This month, I’m excited to see what others are posting, because we’re peeking at each other’s desks! Since I’ve been working hard on giving my home office an update recently, I’m excited to see how others have theirs set up. I always get such great inspiration from other people’s posts.
A Work in Progress
I’m not quite ready to show you my whole office yet, but today I’ll give you a sneak peek of just my desk.

The View
Before I say anything else, I have to start by telling you that the view is the best thing about this room! Ideally, I’d love to have a desk that floats in the center of the room, but there’s just no way I want my back to this lovely scene! Therefore, having the desk sit perpendicular to the window seems to be the best arrangement.

I like to work in the early-morning hours, so it’s not uncommon for me to be at my desk as the sun comes up.
Coffee, and a quiet peacefulness is how I work best.

Just this week, this was the view that emerged when I was up before dawn to work. How could you not be inspired by this?

The Desk
The desk itself is on the smallish side, but that’s okay, because I don’t like a lot of clutter around me.
I have this little rolling cart pushed up to the end of desk to give me some shelving and an extra drawer.

My New Chair
I’m in love with this chair, which is an Amazon find! Recently, as I was working on the office, we looked at a few stores around town for a chair, because I wanted to actually sit in it before purchasing.
No luck. The only chairs in the stores were the ones that looked like traditional office chairs. Not what I was hoping for.
I saw THIS ONE on Amazon, and it was love at first sight! I took a chance on ordering it without being able to sit in it first, and I couldn’t be happier! It’s comfy and stylish.
I love the tufted rolled back, the gray and white dotted fabric, and the barn wood legs. It comes in multiple other colors too, if gray isn’t your style.
I bought the pillow at HomeGoods, because sometimes I tuck it in behind my back when I’ve been sitting for awhile, and need a little more lumbar support.

Desk Accessories
This mercury glass lamp is stunning. I love the little bit of sparkle it adds to my office, while still fitting in nicely with my color scheme. I have a thinkg for mercury glass and have multiple pieces, both vintage and new, in various places around my house.
I have our Echo Show on my desk right now, because it allows me to see the front door camera. We recently had some workers coming and going through the front door all day for a project in the house, and I secluded myself in my office, so I could stay far away (because pandemic). The Echo Show allowed me to keep any eye on things without having to be too close. I love this little thing.
I picked up some marble coasters for my desk, and use one for my coffee cup, and one for my candle. Having a candle lit in the office adds such a cozy and relaxing vibe while I’m working.

Is coffee a desk accessory? I’m gonna go with “yes”. And this sweet cup is my favorite. 💕

Rather than traditional office accessories for my desk, I’m using some of my favorite vintage hobnail milk glass. I’m a believer in actually using my vintage items and antiques, albeit gently, rather than having them packed away someplace where I can’t enjoy them. These little pieces of milk glass add a vintage vibe to my office, are beautiful to look at, and functional at the same time.
Here’s one more little sneak peek at another corner of my office. I hope to have the whole room ready to show you soon.

If you have any tips for creating a stylish, but functional office space, I’d love to hear them as I finish this room up!

PS. I’d love it if you’d enter your email in the box at the top of the page, and/or follow me on social media. That way, you’ll be notified when I post something new, and you won’t miss a thing! 💜

I love the desk and ‘roll cart’… where did you get those? They would be perfect for My Wee Abode!
Hi Julie– The desk is from Wayfair and the cart that nearly matches it is a lucky find from HomeGoods!
What a cosy workplace with such a beautiful view! Seeing the countryside makes me smile. That’s pretty much my view here too. 🙂
Thanks so much for sharing with #MMBC. Hope to see you again!
Nature has a way of soothing my soul. Thanks for hosting, Jayne!
What an inspiring place to sit and work! I love the look of your desk and the cart matches really well too – gorgeous!
Thanks so much, Jayne. I’m working on pulling the rest of the room together too. Can’t wait to share!
I’m with you on the view. It’s so spectacular I’m not sure I’d get much work done. Love the hobnail too. You seem quite organized and clutter free. My kinda gal!
I love looking at where people work and their desks. I find it so interesting. What an amazing view you have. x
Thank you, Kim! Yes, many of us are setting up new workspaces this year, due to so many working from home. It was helpful for me to see others’ spaces, too, as I created my own.
Thanks for stopping by, and for taking the time to leave a comment!

I am in need of a new office chair; my son seems to have commandeered mine and since I didn’t get to pick it out in the firs place I’m not that sad about getting one just for me. What a pretty view.
I think you got “lucky” that your son took your chair! Now you can select one that suits you! 😂.
