I know, I know… It’s only October. BUT, if you want to shop for your dream Christmas tree this season, it’s time to start looking now, because the good ones always sell out early. I speak from experience. Remember the saga of my “Charlie Brown” Christmas tree?
I have not had good luck with trees from the big box stores. When we moved into this house a few years ago, we got a new, much taller tree for our living room. The one we had before was too short for the much higher ceilings of the new house.
Finding a new, taller tree proved to be quite a saga as well. I knew exactly what I wanted; a 9-foot tall tree, with natural-looking branches and lots of warm white lights. Oh, and I wanted it to be “slim” so as not to take up too much space in the corner where it would be placed.
That tree turned out to be a “unicorn” of sorts, but after several hours of shopping at multiple stores all around town, I found one that was just okay. It was the best I could find, so I settled for it.
I lugged that big heavy box out to my car, loaded it, brought it home, unloaded it, and hauled it into the house to assemble it.

After we put it together, we were ready for that dazzling moment when the lights came on and everyone went “oooo” and “ahhhh”. Except they didn’t, because the lights didn’t come on. <Womp, womp.>
I called the store immediately to see about a replacement, only to be told they were sold out of that tree. It was Black Friday weekend, the stores were packed and all the good trees were gone.
I ended up calling the manufacturer of the tree, but all they did was send me replacement lights that required all of the non-working lights to be removed from their clips one-by-one, and then the new lights tediously rewired in place. Uhg. Plus, one set of the replacement lights still didn’t work, so there was a gap in the lights near the top.
We’ve been making that tree work for the last several years, but every time we get it out and take it down, I get cranky about having to add strings of lights and wrap them around my “pre-lit” tree to make it look better.
Side Note: One clue as to how much fuller and thicker my new King of Christmas Royal Fir tree is compared to my old one is that it came in two boxes rather than one. Both are 9-feet tall, slim trees with the same dimensions. But, the King of Christmas one is much more full and of better quality.

Things I love about my new King of Christmas tree
Finally, when I recently found this gorgeous 9-foot Royal Fir Slim Tree with 900 warm white and multi-color LED lights on the King of Christmas website, I knew I had found my dream tree!
1. Fullness
Let’s just begin by discussing how much fuller and thicker the branches are.

Even after fluffing and arranging the branches of my old tree, you can still see right through to the other side. I have always spent so much time carefully filling those gaps with ribbons and ornaments as best I could, but the light from the window behind would always shine through and highlight the holes.
Not so with my new King of Christmas tree. Right out of the box, it was plump and full. As a bonus, it came with these long-sleeved shaping gloves to prevent your arms from getting scratched while fluffing your branches. Although to be honest, this tree required minimal shaping. It had such a great shape right out of the box!

2. Natural-Looking Branches
My new tree has a blend of realistic and classic needle tips. They are softer and more pliable instead of sharp and pokey, but they still have enough strength to support your ornaments. No wimpy branches here! I love how real they look and feel.

3. Shape & Size
The shape of my new tree is so pretty. With minimal effort right out of the box, it has such a nice and tidy, triangular shape like a gorgeous pine tree should. No droopy or crooked branches like my old one.

I love that this is still a “slim” tree, but not pencil-thin like some slim trees. It doesn’t take up a lot of extra space in my living room but still looks full and lush.
This Royal Fir Slim tree is 48″ wide vs. 64″ for the regular-sized Royal Fir for reference.
4. Power Pole
Assembly of this tree is quick and seamless because of the power pole that eliminates the need to connect any wires. No more hunting around in the branches to find the plugs that connect each section of lights. Just snap the three sections into the power pole and the lights are magically connected! Easy-peasy.
5. Lights
This tree comes pre-strung with 900 warm white and multi-color micro LED lights. In addition to how beautiful the tree is, the lights are one of my favorite things! You don’t have to commit to either white or colored lights! You get both! Using the included remote, you can instantly switch between them.

Not only that, but the remote allows you to choose multiple different options; blinking lights, chasing lights, twinkling lights, slow on and off lights, and more! How fun is that?

The remote even has a timer so your tree will automatically go on and off each night if you choose. My old tree certainly didn’t have any of these fun features.
6. Storage Bag
And finally, when Christmas is over and it’s time to store your gorgeous tree away until next year, King of Christmas includes a water-resistant storage bag with a zipper and handles. This protects your tree while in storage, and also makes it so much easier to tote it back and forth to your storage room. This is such a better option than stuffing it back in the box like we’ve always done with past trees.

More of my King of Christmas trees

There is definitely a difference! Your tree is beautiful. Just the fact that it came with long sleeved gloves and a tree bag sets it apart!
Yes, I agree! My forearms appreciate it when I’m fluffing those branches! :-)
Excellent advice! It does seem crazy but those trees fly out as soon as the retailer puts them out.
Yes they do! I love shopping early to make sure I get what I want. :-)
