Cozy Fall Front Porch

The weather was nearly perfect this weekend, so I was able to spend some relaxing time outside finishing up my Cozy Fall Front Porch.

White Mums

Fortunately, my hydrangeas are in that lovely fall color stage, because my mums haven’t all fully bloomed yet.

I got all white mums this year, and I think they will be a nice contrast to the green/pink/brown shades in my Limelight hydrangeas.

This one is blooming nicely. Just waiting on the bigger ones to open up.

Heirloom Pumpkins

I love all these heirloom pumpkins that I got at a farm down the road.

They look extra pretty with the slight sheen from the clear satin spray paint that I used to preserve them and make them last longer. You can read about that HERE.

My mums are all in various stages of opening up.

These sweet potato vines were accents in my pots when they were filled with annuals this summer.

I replaced the annuals with the mums, but left the vines a while longer, because the contrast is pretty.

When the nights get a bit cooler, they will start to wither up, and then I’ll just clip them out.

DIY Fall Porch Sign

Here’s my DIY Fall Porch Sign display, dressed up with some faux fall florals on the lantern, and my favorite felt letter board.

Both of the galvanized pails (the big one with the mum, and the tiny one with the pumpkins) came from my mom’s house.

I didn’t like the way the plastic pot for the mum was showing above the edge of the larger pail, so I just wrapped it in a scrap of burlap before setting it down inside the bucket.

The wood circles were used in the table centerpieces for our wedding. I love being able to put them to use since they have sentimental value. 💕

The flameless candles in all the lanterns are on timers, so they go on/off by themselves each evening, giving the porch a lovely, warm glow.

DIY Burlap & Ribbon Wreath

I made the wreath myself, after watching several tutorials on YouTube. 😂 If you want to see how I made my finished wreath, you can find it HERE.

I sent a picture to my daughter, and she wants one too now. More wreath-making is clearly in my future. 🤪 (Update: you can see the wreath I made for my daughter at the bottom HERE also.

Layered Welcome Mat

I bought this pretty monogrammed doormat last year, and have been looking for just the right rug to layer with it for a while now. I love the look of the buffalo plaid rug but thought the black might be a bit too bold for my porch.

Then, recently I found THIS ONE that comes in a dark gray. It’s a good complement to the paint colors of our house and just a bit more toned down than the black, although I do love traditional black buffalo plaid, too!

The Porch Swing

This porch swing is one of my favorite places to sit and relax.

It’s perfect for sipping (Pumpkin Spice) coffee in the morning sun, but by afternoon it’s shady, making it ideal for rocking slowly with a tall glass of iced tea in the summer, or a mug of hot apple cider in the fall.

I used yet another lantern here, also from our wedding centerpieces, with another flameless candle on a timer.

Today is officially the first day of fall! Now that the outside is done, I better start working on the inside... 🤪

  1. Niky, I love how you decorated your front porch. Everything looks so lovely and your late season hydrangeas just compliment the whole scene. I also love that you used a variety of pumpkins. It’s just lovely.

    1. Yes, you should definitely become a trendsetter! ❤️ I’ve not been to the UK before, but we were scheduled for our first European vacation this past summer, to Paris, Bordeaux and London, and Coronavirus ruined it. 🙁 Hope to get there before too many years go by.

  2. Very eye catching and seasonal front porch! We don’t do much outdoor decorating for fall (autumn) here in the UK – for Halloween you see a lot of pumpkins – but I think it’s a lovely trend and I’m sure it will take off. Thanks for joining #WowOnWednesday.

  3. Niky, your front porch is gorgeous! I love how you have used pieces from your wedding centrepieces, and that it looks as pretty in the evening as it does in the daytime. Thank you for sharing this wonderful fall inspiration with the Hearth and Soul Link Party!
