It’s officially spring (finally), and these 7 Simple Steps to Invite Spring Inside will help you freshen up your home for the season.
Oh, hello.
Come on in! I’m so happy you’re here.

I’m so excited to be joining 28 of my friends for the 2023 Spring Home Tour hosted by Marty from A Stroll Thru Life.
Marty’s home is always so beautifully decorated and charming, especially for spring.

7 Simple Steps to Invite Spring Inside
Today, I’m going to show you how I added simple spring touches around my home. Seven simple steps that anyone can do to brighten up their home for the season.
1. Swap Out Your Rug
During the winter, I had the gorgeous Ulubey area rug from Boutique Rugs in my living room. It has a more traditional style that worked nicely with my winter decor.
But for spring, I was ready to swap it out for something a bit more fun.
This new Minoa rug was just what I needed!

The beautiful blend of soft neutrals combined with a bold hexagonal pattern makes it a whimsical statement accessory to freshen up the room for spring.

2. Layer in Lighter Throws & Pillows
I removed some of the heavier lap blankets and pillows that I had out for winter and replaced them with lighter-weight throws and some fun, spring patterns in the pillows.

3. Declutter
The easiest and most inexpensive way to freshen your home up for spring is to declutter.
We tend to collect “stuff” over the winter, and when spring arrives, I’m ready to purge.

Keeping the kitchen counters free of excess things makes the whole room feel fresh, bright, and clean.

4. Add Pops of Spring Color
Using neutrals as the base color in my home allows for adding pops of color for each season.
This spring, I swapped out some of the white china I usually have in my antique corner cabinet and replaced it with my collection of blue and whites.
The combo of blues and spring greenery adds a fresh look to this corner of the kitchen.

The top of the china cabinet (which is next on the list for its makeover–stay tuned) got a flower market display. Tulips are the epitome of spring, don’t you think?

The Frame TV
One of my favorite ways to add pops of color to the room is with our new Frame TV.
Even my skeptical husband was impressed and commented on how much nicer the whole room looks without a giant black hole above the mantel.

Just look at how changing out the art adds an entirely different look and feel to the room. From bright pink florals to fresh spring nature pictures, you can select whatever you’re in the mood for. Spring vibes at your fingertips. 🙂

It’s the best “home decor” purchase we’ve made in a long time. No regrets.

5. Use Fresh Spring Scents
Candles, essential oils, and even a simmer pot are great ways to invite spring scents into your home, especially if you’re still waiting on the weather to warm up enough to get outside like we are here in Iowa.

6. Brighten Up with Greenery & Spring Florals

Because of its expansive size, the farmhouse dining table requires something big and dramatic as a centerpiece.
Some spring stems in a pretty green jug do the trick.
The glass jug and my crystal candlestick collection look so pretty when the spring sunlight comes through the window. At night, these favorite candles with a remote create a cozy ambient light for dining.

The entryway sports my Spring Lantern vignette from this month’s Pinterest Challenge.

7. Add Spring Accessories
The free Pottery Barn dresser that recently got a makeover is being used as a console table behind the sofa for now. It makes a great place to display some spring accessories.

Remember this terrarium I got during our antique shopping trip to the KC West Bottoms?
I used it in the winter to create a lighted snowy scene, and now I’ve switched it over to spring by repotting some of my live plants in an old white ceramic loaf pan that tucks down inside the terrarium nicely.

The fireplace mantel gets some spring decor with vintage-looking rabbits, my DIY birdhouse, and some spring-themed books held up with vintage corbels.

This spring decor will transition from early spring through Easter by adding a few more pastel colors and some Easter Eggs. The greenery, florals, and spring birds will all stick around until it’s time to think about summer decor.
Thanks for stopping by today, friends.

Thank you so much, April!
SUCH a gorgeous home, Niky!! I love your white and blue dishes all corralled together in the corner. That bunny pillow on the couch is also just so stinkin’ cute!! This was very enjoyable to read. Hope you have a nice weekend!

Happy spring to you too, Barbara. Thanks for stopping by! 🙂
Thanks for sharing your china cabinet’s top in particular. I have some tall shelves that need some spring help.
Niky, I love how your living room looks with just a few touches of spring decor! Yes, those frame tv’s are nice. Oddly enough, we have one and I never put on photos… And, where did you find that large bunny print/painting?? It’s perfect! Reminds me I need to pull out a bunny painting I have and use it on the mantel.
Happy to have shared your post at this week’s Share Your Style #381 for you,
Hugs,
Barb 🙂
Thanks so much, Barbara! The bunny painting came from Etsy. Who knew you could buy Frame TV art on, Etsy?! Thank you so much for sharing. 💕
Nothing says springtime like a few branches in bloom in a gorgeous glass vase!
Hi Niky! Love your beautiful home. Neutrals are the way to go. I love all your touches of spring that freshen up each space. I especially love your spring branches! Glad to be touring with you.
Thank you so much, Lori!
Your house itself is just beautiful, from the floors , the bright open windows, and the bannister. It must be joyful to decorate it for Spring. Everything is gorgeous, it made me miss my larger house. Love it
You are so kind Leanna. Thank you so muich.
So many lovely spring touches! I just started prepping the house for spring this past weekend… even if it was snowing and we have more snow in the forecast this week! LOL
I can relate, Joanne. We just got a ridiculous amount of snow this week, too. Spring break? Feels more like winter break. 🙁
Your home is beautiful and I love all the touches of Spring you have added!
Thanks so much, Kelly!
I love seeing all of your bunnies sprinkled throughout your home Niky. I like them to stay longer than spring though, they are just too cute to put away. Those lights above your island are quite the beauties. Thank you for all of your tips. I need to get busy putting spring out. Thank you for sharing your inspiration.
Thanks for stopping by, Cara. 🙂
Love your spring filled home and great ideas. They reminded me I have a demi-john and need to get it out and put stems inside. I think I’ve used it once. Love yours but I think my favorite two things are your view and that bunny print! So pretty. Happy Spring!
Awww, thanks so much, Cindy. Yes, I’m a fan of the view, too. I love being rural-ish, if that’s a thing? LOL
You have a really beautiful home Niky, so fresh and inviting! I too love spring decorating as it gives me the chance to declutter and add bright pops of colour after a long winter…you gave so many great tips! I’m so going to try that lemon simmer pot!

The new rug looks beautiful, just right for spring! I’m still trying to convince my hubby that we should get a frame TV. I’m going to show him your photos in the hope it will help sway the needle a little haha! Lovely touring with you this week.
I wish you the best of luck! My husband was a bit unsure as well, but after we had it installed, he admitted that he was impressed! It’s not “just another TV”.
What a beautiful tour with so many great tips! Happy almost spring to you!
Shelley
Thanks, Shelley. Wishing you a wonderful spring as well!
Your Spring home is just beautiful! Love the tips — especially the idea of swapping out an area rug. I never even considered that option!
🙂 Linda
Thank you so much, Linda. Area rugs make such a big impression in a room. It’s so fun and easy to change them out with the seasons to get a whole new luck. Just roll them up and store them in the basement until I’m ready to use one again!
Your home is just gorgeous! I love the open feel and flow from one room to the next. Your spring touches are beautiful and I love the blue and white!
Thank you, Tamara!
What great tips – I love your neutral spring decor and all of the little birds. And you have a beautiful collection of TV art. I agree with you that it adds so much to the room!
Thanks so much, Kate!
