I needed a weekend to immerse myself in fun projects and spend some time outdoors, and this weekend did not disappoint. Despite intermittent rain, and a lot of humidity, it was a great weekend and just what I needed to give me some energy for the final few days until vacation. Three more days…
We worked outside in the garden. Last year, we had more pest problems in our rural-ish location than I ever did before in my suburban garden. I decided to try some natural remedies this year, so I planted some marigolds, mint and chives in the garden–all which are said to repel some of the unwanted bugs.
And of course, after a long, hot and humid day working in the yard and garden, we needed a cool drink. And since so much mint is growing in the garden right now, Raspberry Mojitos were the drink of the day!
Hot weather also makes big dinner salads the ideal choice for supper. We used leftover smoked pulled pork from the freezer for these, homemade croutons, and these “World Smallest Tomatoes” from Trader Joe’s. So cute.
I worked on a couple of fun projects for two upcoming blog hops. Here’s a little sneak peek, but watch for the full reveals later this week.
Sunshine, gardening, projects, cocktails….. Now that’s my kinda week.
In Case You Missed It…
I participated in another Pinterest Challenge this week. Check out THIS post to see all the places I used my fun summer basket!
Also, can you believe Father’s Day is only TWENTY days away?! Let me help you with some of my favorite Father’s Day Gift Ideas. Plus, at that end of this post, you can see a little photo tribute to my own dad. Father’s Day and my dad’s birthday both fall close together in June, and I miss terribly being able to celebrate with him. It will get better, right? 💔
The Weekly Features!
My mom gave me a sewing machine years ago. She was really good at crocheting and sewing both, and although I consider myself fairly “crafty”, I’ve developed a talent for neither sewing nor crocheting.
However, I do get my sewing machine out every once in awhile. These sewing projects from this week’s party inspire me to want to dust it off and do something new. All three of these ladies give such good tutorials, I feel like I could make any (or all!) of these projects. Maybe I will! Because summer is coming, and I will have more time to indulge in creative endeavors. Three more days….
