This is one of my favorite link ups because I am chronically curious. My husband teases me by saying he is going to start introducing me by saying, “This is my wife. She’s going to have some questions for you.” 😂🤣 I laugh along with him, because he’s not wrong. 😆
I love to learn how other people do things, arrange things, organize things, and celebrate things. I often see a great idea, and then customize it for my own purpose or to my liking. That’s the great thing about reading blogs! It’s like a little peek into the way other people “do life”.
This month we are sharing our bedside tables.
My Bedside Table
I don’t like clutter. So I really try to keep my bedside table to a minimal amount of things.
The most prominent thing you are probably noticing is my new diffuser. For years, I’ve had a much smaller, more simple one, that I really liked. But my husband got me this beauty for my birthday last month. Isn’t it gorgeous? Almost like a work of art, a night light, AND a diffuser that lasts all night long.
When it’s not lit it up, it looks like mercury glass, which is one of my favorites. But, you can also choose to have it lit up, in your choice of many color options!
It can cycle through many colors, remain on one of your choice, or have no light at all.
The light and the diffuser can also be set to run all night, or for 1, 3 or 5 hours. It even comes with a remote!
Seriously, if you have trouble sleeping at night, you really should consider this.
My husband also gifted me a set of several different essential oils, but I have mostly just used the lavender at night, because that scent is so soothing. Do you use essential oils? If you have some suggestions for other nighttime combos, I’d love to hear them!
I like to have the light part of the diffuser on for just a little bit of ambiance lighting when we’re watching Netflix before bed, but we like it dark to sleep, so I turn off the light and just have the mist part on. That subtle lavender scent really helps to relax me as I’m unwinding from the day. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…. my husband is an excellent gift-giver.
Also on my bedside table you’ll find my alarm clock with a charging dock. I don’t use the alarm part, because I have my phone programmed to automatically go off at the same time every weekday morning. I still like to have this old school clock here though, because I want to be able to clearly see the time if I wake up in the night without having to fumble for my phone.
I really would like to have one of those charging pads for my iPhone, but since my phone has a Pop Socket on the back, it won’t work with a charging pad. Bummer. But I like my Pop Socket too much to give it up. It’s one of those handy little devices that I never knew I needed, and now I can’t live without it! 😂
My glasses live on my bedside table, because I wear contacts as often as possible and am mostly blind without them, so I need quick access to the glasses at night and early morning when my contacts are out. I despise wearing glasses though, so I wear them as little as possible. I wear my contacts right up to bedtime, and pop them back in as soon as I can in the morning.
I also keep lip balm on my nightstand. I get dry and cracked lips if I don’t slather them morning and night with some kind of balm. I’ve tried a lot of different things over the years, but this Neosporin Overnight Renewal Therapy works better than anything I’ve found.
The last thing you’ll find on my bedside table is this….
It’s the cremated ashes of the sweetest little dog that ever lived. I don’t know if this box will stay here forever, but for now, there is something comforting about still seeing her little face right by my bed.
For most of her 16 years, she slept right beside me on the bed. And then in her last year, when it became unsafe for her to be up there because she kept falling off in the night, I made her a cozy little bed on the floor right next to me, where I could still reach down and give her a little pat so she knew I was there.
It’s been a year and a half since she died, and I still miss her every day. But I love this little custom-made box that I ordered from Etsy. The carved picture looks just like her, and the poem on top is perfect. You can leave me a comment if you’d like to know the name of the seller on Etsy and I’d be happy to share it with you. It’s well-made so that it is worthy of honoring such a valued pet, yet still reasonably priced, I thought.
Now that we are talking about her. I have to share a couple of my favorite pics of her.
And finally, not really on my bedside table, but near, are these cute little slippers my husband got me for Christmas. They are adorable and comfortable.
